MUDs are awesome! I am a younger person that did not grow up with MUDs. Since I moved to linux, I decided to go full boat nerd and try out some muds. Find MUDs alot better than graphical games. MUSHs are fun too but I havent played them too much to master all the commands.

Great scoring with your wife on linux. I wonder how many Geeks can claim to have their spouses converted to the light.

Actually, it should have hand cuffs. The eeePC needs cuffs to. Or how about the polish handcuffs? The finger cuffs things. Like Data got stuck in on Star Trek. But to wash those thoughts out... have you looked or listened to any of Bob Frankston's stuff? And if so, what do you think?

My only hope going forward is getting Sugar ported to run on regular old x86 boxes to get some good out of all this.

see http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Main_Page and http://www.xconomy.com/2008/05/16/bender-creates-sugar-labs-new-foundation-to-adapt-olpcs-laptop-interface-for-other-machines/ for more info

Not sure the project was ever pure but it is, indeed, sad that the project decided to move to Windows, <a href="http://www.olpcnews.com/software/windows/xp_on_the_xo_in_60_days.html" rel="nofollow">two months ago</a>.
As for the difficulty to use the XO on Sugar, it's not just lack of vision on the user's part. It's also because of a series of assumptions made by the OLPC team. The project was designed by adults in the United States for children in other parts of the world. Without any research done on the diversity of needs children have.
